We enjoyed a whole week away together, and it was exactly what we needed. We were able to just relax the days away without worrying about the time or keeping to a schedule, and we tried to just take it all in and enjoy what was probably our last vacation together without our baby girl to worry about.
Every morning we woke up and went for a run on our little running path and then had some coffee (decaf for one of us) and read on the porch for a little while before heading to the beach for a few hours. We both read a few good novels, but we also made sure to squeeze in some baby-care books, so I'm feeling more knowledgeable now about what to do with this newborn once we bring her home.
We especially had a good time watching all of the little families building sandcastles and playing games together and picturing our future family vacations and activities. She was kicking up a storm the whole week, so I assume she's a beach lover too, and daddy got to feel her a lot throughout the week.
My baby bump is finally starting to pop out a little. I guess she's just being shy, but I expect a big pop in the next week or two. I feel like she's run out of room in there so the only way to go is out.
The first few days were windy and the water was rough, due to some tropical depression weather passing through. The second night a storm rolled in over the gulf around 6:00 and it was one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. The massive storm clouds just coasted in from the ocean taking over the clear blue skies, before unloading torrential downpours for the remainder of the evening. It was truly a spectacular sight.
After the storm passed through, the weather was beautiful and the water was so calm, it was like we were on a lake. There were barely any waves and you could just float in the shallow water for hours.
It was the perfect week, and though it would be nice to spend a few more days on the beach, we missed the puppies terribly, and there is no place like home and nothing better than sleeping in your own bed.
