Drew wasn't able to take off a bunch of days from school because we already had a trip planned to California for my best friend's wedding in April, and it was taking away from the wedding planning trying to plan the H-moon. So here we are, May 27, our 2 month anniversary and a honeymoon finally planned!!!
We're going to Paris and Rome for 8 days in December. We leave the day after Christmas on a direct flight to Paris. We arrive at 6am and I'm itinerizing (yes i made that up) as we speak! Suggestions welcome. We'll spend 3 nights in Paris and then we take an early flight on the 30th to Rome. We'll be in Rome until January 3rd, which means we'll be spending the New Year in the Eternal City. I am ecstatic about starting 2011 in Rome, and from what I have read, it is the most amazing new years celebration in the world. I clearly have lots of planning and research to do, but knowing us, we'll show up with a map, our museum passes (evidently a must to skip lines), put on our walking shoes, take our cameras and explore the city. We're also considering taking a day trip to Florence or Cinqueterra. I know it's a lot to fit in and some people have said it's not worth the effort and time, but I have found an early am train to Florence which would allow us the whole day there and would get us back into Rome that night around 9pm, so I'm considering that as an option. I mean, we need to fit in as much as possible and who knows when we'll go back to Italy? I don't even know what I'm most excited about. I love traveling together. I love spending endless hours in art museums, I will obsess over how in the world they built the Colosseum in year 80 and I'm really looking forward to the food and wine in Paris and Italy. I'll have to do a lot of window shopping in Paris, unless we come into some major mula in the next 6 months, and then by all means, Chanel, here I come.
I'll keep updating as I plan our itinerary, but until then I have a lot of reading to do and Italian to practice!
