gilt

I love when I sign on to Gilt Group or Rue La La exactly when the sales open to see that the $800.00 dress and the $1700.00 crocodile skin wallet have already sold out. Bummer! I was totally going to order those, but I guess I'll keep looking and save my money. ;)

WHO orders that stuff!? Must be nice.

Week 25

Here's what I know. I have three months to go now, and with football season starting, I am positive it is going to fly by.

She kicks a lot now. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable, but most of the time it's really comforting and entertaining. I'm feeling great and able to work out, which I'm very thankful for. I get hungry really fast and full even faster, so I have started eating smaller snacks more often, which seems to be helping.

She's in full newborn proportions now, so she is going to spend the rest of her three months in there fine tuning her nervous system and putting on some fat.

I have to take the glucose test to make sure I haven't developed gestational diabetes, which basically entails drinking 12 ounces of nasty orange fluid containing 50grams of carbs and having my blood drawn exactly an hour later. Not fun, but not the worst thing I have to endure.

We're going to start the child birth classes next week, which should be all sorts of entertaining. They told us to wear stretchy workout pants, so I'm imagining an amusing, if not also frightening, experience to say the least.

1 million dollar bills

I forgot to mention this Destin restaurant from our babymoon adventure. My parents came up for the second weekend, and we went to dinner at this Irish Pub called McGuires. Turns out they make the best steaks you've ever tasted, but more importantly, every square inch of the restaurant is covered in dollar bills. Ceilings, walls, and every nook and cranny.

Photobucket

They estimate that there are over ONE MILLION DOLLAR BILLS covering the restaurant. Talk about a nice retirement fund. If you're ever in Destin, I highly recommend a dinner at McGuires, the decor is unbelievable and the food is even better.

With my mom and dad, and a little birthday brownie in honor of my little sister's 20th birthday (she couldn't come).

Practice Baby

Baby Charlotte needed a bath this morning, and afterwards I wrapped her up in her towel like a little baby, since I need to be working on my baby swaddling skills.

Photobucket

She loved being wrapped in her towel, and she stayed swaddled this way on the couch for approximately the entire morning.

Photobucket

We left to get some brunch with my parents, and when we came back she was still asleep on the couch in her swaddle.

Love this girl.

No way

"After your baby gets here, the dog will just be a dog." A quote from House Rules by Jodi Piccoult. So many people keep telling us we're not going to care about the puppies anymore after LJC is born.

UMMMM....NOT GONNA HAPPEN! You don't know us and the infinite amount of love in our hearts for babies and puppies.

Charlotte and Mason are always going to be the babies. We will just have 3 babies in December, and one will be less furry and require some diaper changes, etc...

Here we are in Leighton's new rocking chair. See there's plenty of room for everyone in this family!!

24 Week Update

For those who were asking for a bump picture, here you go.

Photobucket

I haven't really popped yet, but I read that sometimes it can be well into the 5th and 6th month with your first baby, and our doctor says she's on track in size and weight. She's definitely in there, though, and kicking away. In fact she kept me up all night last night with her kicking. I kind of wonder what she's thinking. Does she want out? Is she hungry? Is she playing? Is she just trying to say hi?

So, she is officially Leighton (pronounced Lay-ton) Jane Clark! Jane for my mom and Leighton because we both really fell in love with it. Clark because well...

Her nursery is almost complete. The walls in the main room are a light pink (Behr Strawberry Cheesecake). It's a very pale pink, so it's not overpowering or too bright. The bathroom is a soft green (Behr Water Spout). She has her very own pink towels with her light green monogram. They are beyond precious. Thanks mom!

We picked out her bedding, but I haven't ordered it yet. I went ahead and registered for it, but I don't know if I can wait that long!! I'm ready to finish her room. It is a really pretty paisley print with coordinating green polka dots. I have the swatch of the paisley and it's really beautiful in person. Not too bright, not too muted, and I randomly found some baskets with the matching paisley fabric liners for her book case at TJ maxx. Score!

I have a few things for the walls, but I'm still deciding exactly where and how I want to hang them, so once I get all that accomplished, I will have pictures!

Her closet is filling up with beautiful smocked dresses that her "Mi" (my mom) has been finding for her. She is definitely going to be a very southern little girl! My sister and I have also been hard at work making her tons and tons of bows with all of our old ribbons from high school. It's been a fun little side project in the evenings.

And just for Drew, she has her very first Gator cheerleading outfit in size 12 months, so hopefully she'll fit into it in time for the 2012 football season.

Things are moving right along! 15 Weeks till Due Date!! Hard to believe!

Just for LJC

Look what Aunt Tricia and Uncle Brad got for little LJC!!

How adorable!! Thank you guys!

What's worse?
Your air conditioner breaking in the middle of August in Florida when it is 100 degrees out or that it will cost $400 to fix it and they can't fix it until Wednesday?

tough call

New Bows

I just got a bunch of little bows for baby girl, so naturally Charlotte had to test them out to make sure they would stay in her hair. She insists on trying on all of baby girl's new items.

Photobucket

Mason couldn't care less about the bows. He's just happy we are home and hasn't left our laps the whole night.

Babymoon

We just got back from a week vacation in my favorite beach in the United States, San Destin. The sand is like powdered sugar and the water is crystal clear. I am exhausted, but I just wanted to share a little of our wonderful vacay.

Photobucket

We enjoyed a whole week away together, and it was exactly what we needed. We were able to just relax the days away without worrying about the time or keeping to a schedule, and we tried to just take it all in and enjoy what was probably our last vacation together without our baby girl to worry about.

Every morning we woke up and went for a run on our little running path and then had some coffee (decaf for one of us) and read on the porch for a little while before heading to the beach for a few hours. We both read a few good novels, but we also made sure to squeeze in some baby-care books, so I'm feeling more knowledgeable now about what to do with this newborn once we bring her home.

Photobucket

We especially had a good time watching all of the little families building sandcastles and playing games together and picturing our future family vacations and activities. She was kicking up a storm the whole week, so I assume she's a beach lover too, and daddy got to feel her a lot throughout the week.

Photobucket

My baby bump is finally starting to pop out a little. I guess she's just being shy, but I expect a big pop in the next week or two. I feel like she's run out of room in there so the only way to go is out.

Photobucket

The first few days were windy and the water was rough, due to some tropical depression weather passing through. The second night a storm rolled in over the gulf around 6:00 and it was one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. The massive storm clouds just coasted in from the ocean taking over the clear blue skies, before unloading torrential downpours for the remainder of the evening. It was truly a spectacular sight.

Photobucket

After the storm passed through, the weather was beautiful and the water was so calm, it was like we were on a lake. There were barely any waves and you could just float in the shallow water for hours.

Photobucket

It was the perfect week, and though it would be nice to spend a few more days on the beach, we missed the puppies terribly, and there is no place like home and nothing better than sleeping in your own bed.
