Meet Charlotte and Mason

There are no words for how amazing these two puppies are! They are like our real children and their grandmothers would agree. Here they are snuggled up in daddy's lap on the way home after their first trip to St. Augustine beach. They loved chasing the birds and running in the sand, but were terrified of the ocean. go figure, my water dogs hate water.

Venue

This was such a hard decision for us! I was envisioning a really Southern wedding, in an old antebellum mansion in the deep south. Unfortunately for me, Florida doesn't really have a lot of those. The style I like is more in South Alabama, South Georgia and the Carolinas. Oh how I wish I lived in Charleston or Savannah. So we decided we'll do destination-ish, and we found some beautiful spots in Thomasville, Savannah and South Carolina. But we don't have any real ties to those cities, and I have a lot of friends coming in from out of town, and they would be very hard to travel to. We also found a few spots in Jacksonville, but as I started contacting vendors and taking off work to drive to Jacksonville to meet with them, I realized that it was going to get difficult to manage and plan, living in a different city.

In Gainesville, I liked the Thomas Center...well, that was booked, and I would have had to separate my guests for everyone to sit, and I'm not a big fan of that! Finally my mom took me to the Gainesville Country Club and we met Dan Hathcock (the florist and event designer), and I told him my vision, and we decided the Country Club would be perfect! He was able to understand the Southern feel that I was trying to capture, and wow, I can't wait to see what he comes up with. We even decided to do the ceremony at the Club out on the back lawn which overlooks the Prairie. I always thought we'd marry in the 1st united methodist church in downtown Gainesville, but when we walked out on the prairie, we both just knew it was our spot.
I am so happy we made that decision! Everyone at the club has been so helpful and fun, and they are all so excited for the big event.

Let the Planning Begin

We got engaged May 19, when Drew surprised me at home with flowers, dinner, wine, a diamond, and a promise. We celebrated with our families, and then we started planning. It wasn't too hard to pick a date because our schedules are very full, so we picked what would work with Drew's school schedule and National Boards and that was that. What was a little harder was finding a venue that fit our date and our guestlist.

I have always been interested in wedding planning, and I am a wedding coordinator at my church, so I had a good idea of what kind of wedding I was envisioning, and Drew and I talked about what we both wanted. We went down the checklist of vendors, picked our favorites and started meeting with them and booking them. I wanted to get the big stuff solidified so I could focus on the details. That's where we have to get down and dirty. More on our vendors in a bit!

a little about me...and us

I am a lawyer in Florida and my fiance is graduating from Dental school in May and then starting his Orthodontic Residency in either Gainesville, Houston or Louisville.
We met in high school and dated a little, but didn't really get together until after college when I moved back to Gainesville for law school. Both of our families are here, so moving will be hard, but it will definitely be an adventure, and a new city will be so much fun to explore!
We have two King Charles Spaniels, Charlotte and Mason, who are so sweet and we treat like our children. We love to cook for each other and try to come up with new recipes and ideas to keep things interesting in the kitchen. Our favorite thing to make is homemade sushi, after a fun trip to the Asian market for all the raw delicacies. We want to travel to Italy together, as soon as possible, and then take on the rest of the world. We can't wait to start a family and build our home, but for now, we are loving being engaged and eating up every moment of it! March 27, 2010 will be amazing, and I'll finally be an L.C.

Our Wedding Photographer...the Fabulous Kelly!

I would be remiss if I didn't give credit to my amazing blog image to Kelly Hite, our wedding photographer. I can't tell you how amazing she is and how much fun she is to work with! We had the best time shooting our engagement pictures last weekend, and we get to see them all this Friday, so I am jumping out of my skin excited! Check out her blog for her amazing work

Meet the Soon to Be LC

Hi!
I'm not LC yet, but I will be on March 27, 2010, and I can't wait!
I have been saying for a long time now that I need to start a blog to harness everything that is me, but I just couldn't find the words or the time. Lately, though, with all of this wedding planning and blog stalking, I have been inspired, and I need to a place to post my ideas, my inspirations, and all the things I've been swooning over!
I have to admit, this will probably start as a wedding blog, since my life is consumed right now with planning the wedding of my dreams with the most perfect fiance in the world, but I also intend to reveal glimpses of my life in domesticated bliss. I love to cook, I love to run, I love to craft, I love wine, I love decorating, I love my family, I love my friends, I love my violin, I love my two puppies, and most of all I love my amazing fiance!
