Valentines Night

Ooooh am I making a delicious valentines dinner tonight. Dr. Drew took care of breakfast and we went on a run together before we went shopping at Fresh Market for our V-day dinner. We picked up an extra couple bottles of wine for our families and a little chocolate treat for my mom and some lotion for my little sister. Dr. Drew came up with our valentines menu. Starting with some calamari (our favorite). We are having some Chilean Sea Bass and Seared Lamb with White Truffle Risotto and roasted asparagus with onions and shallots. We just ate the calamari and i'm in heaven. We also got some Malbec which I'm really enjoying. will post about it later with pictures of the food. happy v-day!

the flowers

I have an unbelievable florist/event designer (Dan Hathcock:) so I'm not really involved with the flower picking etc., but I did try to give him an idea of what I was envisioning. This bouquet says it all.

We're also going to be using a lot of Magnolias in the arrangements and on the cake.

Check out this gorgeous magnolia and gardenia bouquet. I bet it smelled amazing.

Yellow Inspiration Boards

A few inspiration boards I've been pulling ideas from. I love the color palette on this one. It even has my pretty ML dress.

We're thinking about having signature drinks during cocktail hour, partly to keep the alchohol in control, but really because I think it's so cute to have matching drinks on little trays.
Since the main theme of our wedding is Southern, we're thinking spiked arnold palmers, spiked lemonade or sweet tea vodkas. How cute is that? My mom picked up big glass jugs with spigots to put on the bar.

I love the lemons and the yellow roses and the signature drinks here. I almost did yellow bridesmaid dresses, but went with the more neutral champagne. I love this Nicole Miller dress on this board.

Totally swooning over this board. It has such a romantic and classic vibe. I also thought about using this Jim Hjelm dress. Again, the yellow signature drink is cute and the all white and yellow candy buffet is very tastefully done.

The Dress

My wedding dress was the very first thing I bought for the wedding. I actually found it the week before I got engaged when I was doing a photoshoot for a bridal salon in Orlando. I tried on a bunch of dresses and there was this one that was just perfection. Five days later Drew proposed and I dragged my mom to the salon to see my dream dress! It's so wonderful, I can't wait to wear it again. Even though I knew I found my dress, I still kept my eye out and tried on a few more just in case. I almost considered trying to talk the momsers into a second dress for the reception because there are so many gorgeous creations out there, but I just couldn't get past my original love. One dress it is!

Here are some of the beautiful dresses that I've been ogling over

First, I can't get over this amazing Monique Lhuillier. I'm obsessed with the full and flowy feathers look.

It really reminded me of the stunning Reem Acra dress Olivia Wilde wore to the Golden Globes last year. I'd love this in a pale yellow. DREAM GOWN!

This Vera Wang has a similar dress but she uses lots of asymmetrical tulle to create delicate ethereal layers. This takes my breath away!

Here is another Vera which is probably more do-able as it is a little less dramatic. I am loving the beautiful satin ribbon bow.

Of course, I have to mention J.Crew. Their dresses are always so tailored and classic looking. I fell in love with this dress after seeing Emma sing My Fair Lady to Mr. Shue on Glee. Oh how I love Glee....and Mr. Shue...and Emma. She looks like a modern day Audrey Hepburn and I am swooning over this gown by J. Crew.

This last one from J. Crew I think would be gorgeous for a garden wedding or a small backyard wedding. It is so understated and romantic and I love its simplicity.

Is one of these mine? We shall see! I love them all!

52 days

Like I said before, I was intending to blog along the way of the wedding planning, but I got a little busy stalking all the other wedding blogs I never did my own! I'll play a little catch up with the highlights of my ideas and inspiration. No pix of the final decisions until after the big day!

I knew from the very beginning I wanted a yellow themed wedding, but I went through many iterations of yellow - lemons, nautical, golds, with pink and orange, etc until I finally settled on the perfect combination of yellow, champagne, and lots of ivories. I'm so excited to see it all come together!
